When Music Meant Something

I'm just a 40-something Boston area native who has recently relocated to Tipton, Missouri (home of the amazing, stunning and talented Gene Clark). Prior to that I was a resident of SW Florida for 17 years. Music is my life (I play acoustic guitar...not professionally), and 60's and 70's era music has become my obsession, though at heart I will always be a child of the 80's :-) I especially love Neil Young, Stephen Stills, and Roger McGuinn, as well as any bands they were associated with. I also love The Monkees, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin and assorted other musical acts of that time.
But my main passion and heartache all wrapped in one is the incredible Gene Clark. Never in the world will there ever be again such a gorgeous, soul-stirring voice, ungodly songwriting talent, and pinnacle of physical beauty all wrapped in one. He was one of a kind.

  • The day the music truly died. But the imagining still goes on.

  • One of the biggest moments of Saturday’s Gene Clark tribute: The governor of Missouri made an official proclamation recognizing Gene as an important Missourian, and officially designating November 17th as Gene Clark Day in the State of Missouri.

  • The warm acclaim for Gene Clark has been so powerfully felt all weekend long. On today, which would have been his 70th birthday, I just want to tell him thank you for his beautiful music and for touching so many souls so deeply. We love you, Gene. Happy Birthday, baby.

  • What I did this past weekend: Hung out at a friend’s barn Friday night while RICK CLARK (brother of Gene) rehearsed with a couple of other musicians. And then…on Saturday…the Gene Clark 70th Birthday tribute in Tipton!

In honor of the anniversary of Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, & Jones Ltd.’s release, here is “Love Is Only Sleeping,” one of our favorite songs/videos from the album.

There is also a super slashy fic on NakedPersimmon.com that is based on this video. It’s a Torklenzmith fic by gondorbunny, titled He Looked At Me (click the link to read!).

Thanks for the nod, hun. :)
